I don’t have a lot of words right now. (Amy Cooper incident in Central Park)

Early this morning I learned about the Amy Cooper – Christian Cooper incident in Central Park, New York. This evidently happened one day before George Floyd.
I’ve been thinking on it all morning.
This is a new level of scary that I know black people have been experiencing for years but I’m only beginning to understand. At the moment, I don’t know who’s scarier: the Amy Coopers or the Derek Chauvins of the world. And, do I have the makings to be an Amy Cooper? Can I tap into that as quickly as she can? I think the answer is a resounding no, but I need to stay as open as I can to these possibilities and my own complicit-ness in what I’ve helped to normalize.
