So simple, not so simple

A woman that I know well -let’s call her S- said of another woman that I know well -J- that when she talks to J, nothing else has to happen. By the total presence J gives her, how she pays attention, J doesn’t have to say or do anything else. S feels healed, and all is good in the world.

To cultivate that kind of attention, in seeing the other person, is to cultivate true service and love. It is to cultivate listening. It is to cultivate space holding. It is to understand that in communication, multi-tasking, including in thought, doesn’t serve well. In fact, this single act of service has the power to heal, literally beyond words.
